    LA Tags Prisoners With RFID


    According to a provider of RFID tracking systems, The Los Angeles County jail system has reportedly engaged in a pilot project to use RFID technology to track inmates at the Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic. Alanco Technologies, a provider of RFID tracking products, said that system will be used for continuously tracking inmates at all times throughout the facility. The system will be used to continuosly log inmate movements during the day, prevent gatherings of inmates, as well as track the location of officers in the facility. If successful, the $1.5M pilot project is expected to be rolled out to the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department's other jail facilities.
