Language Weaver Ties Into Search Provider
Los Angeles-based Language Weaver, a provider of software for computer translation of languages, said today that it has inked a strategic partnership with a German enterprise search software firm. According to the firm, it is in an agreement with empolis, which develops enterprise content and knowledge management software, to incorporate Language Weaver's automated translation software for a cross-lingual, enterprise search application. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed. Language Weaver's statistical machine translation software was develops at the University of Southern California's Information Sciences Institute; the firm is venture backed by the Athenaeum Fund, In-Q-Tel, Palisades Ventures, Sulphur Creek Ventures and the Tech Coast Angels.
