MySpace Files Suit Aginst Sanford Wallace

Los Angeles-based MySpace has filed suit against Sanford Wallace, for violation of the CAN-SPAM Act, and California's anti-spam and anti-phishing statutes. Wallace is well known for promoting himself as the "Spam King" in the late 1990's. MySpace said that it has filed suit in the United States District Court in Los Angeles, seeking a permanent injunction barring Wallace and his affiliated companies from the MySpace site. MySpace alleges that Wallace used phishing techniques to gain access to MySpace user profiles, and spammed thousands of users with unwanted advertisements. MySpace is also seeking monetary damages in the suit.
