iQstor Goes To School
Newbury Park-based iQstor Networks (www.iqstor.com) announced that La Sierra University has deployed the company's iQ1000 intelligent storage system. La Sierra will deploy 2.2TB of disk space to consolidate storage from the campus files servers and stream multimedia feeds.

Troika Certifies Emulex HBAs
Westlake Village-based Troika Networks (www.troikanetworks.com) has certified its Application Switches for use with host bus adapters from Irvine-based Emulex (www.emulex.com). The certification means that Troika's platform for storage applications will work with Emulex storage networking hardware.

SMC Ships USB WiFi Adapter
Irvine-based SMC Networks (www.smc.com) has shipped a new USB 2.0 Adapter which provides wireless connectivity to laptops and desktops. The new adapter makes it easy for consumers to connect to any 802.11g and 802.11b wireless networks through any USB port.

NEC Opens Media Division
NEC Solutions America reports that it has created a new Media Solutions Division focused on the creation and delivery of digital media for advertising, features films, and alternative content. According to the company, the new division will be headed by Kurt Schwenk, director of media solutions, and supported by Harry Mathias, director of technology. Mathias was most recently at BARCO, and Schwenk has a long career in the entertainment industry.

Tanner Opens Taiwan Subsidiary
Pasadena-based Tanner EDA (www.tannereda.com) has opened a wholly-owned subsidiary in Taiwan to help support demand for its Windows-based EDA tools.
