Mindspeed Adds VoIP Processor
Newport Beach-based Mindspeed Technologies (www.mindspeed.com) announced a new family of voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) processors. The company's new Comcerto processors provide telecom equipment manufacturers with integrated voice encryption, authentication, and denial-of-service (DoS) protection, along with other features to help manufacturers design VoIP products.

Boingo Signs Broadband Equipment Provider
Santa Monica-based Boingo Wireless (www.boingo.com) has inked a deal with Wificom Technologies. Wificom will adopt Boingo's roaming standards to ensure compatibility between the company's equipment and Boingo roaming networks.

SolarFlare Announces 10Gbps Over Copper Transceivers
Irvine-based SolarFlare (www.solarflare.com) announced the availability of the company's 10 gigabit-per-second over copper physical layer transceivers. The new products, based on CMOS technology, allow for very high speed 10Gbps operation over standard Ethernet Category 5e wiring. The product eliminates the need for expensive optical fiber transceivers or cumbersome twinax coaxial cables currently needed for 10G Ethernet installations.

USC Receives $8M From Electronic Arts
The University of Southern California (www.usc.edu) has received an investment of $8M from Electronic Arts, to fund a master's program in designing video games. The funding will establish both the Electronic Arts Interactive Entertainment Program and the Electronic Arts Endowed Faculty Chair. The donation was made to USC's School of Cinema-Television.

Feds Bust Man Over Google Click Extortion
Federal agents have arrested a Ventura County man for allegedly threatening to release a program to provide bogus Google advertising clicks for email spammers. The man allegedly tried to extort $100,000 from the company to stop him from releasing the program.
