DDD Ships 3D DVD Software
Santa Monica-based DDD Group announced that it has created new software which allows for playing of conventional DVD disks in 3D The company says that its new software provides real-time conversion of DVD movies into a 3D format suitable for the company's 3D displays.

CrystalVoice Joins 3Com Partner Program-
3Com announced today that Santa Barbara-based CrystalVoice Communications (www.crystalvoice.com) has joined 3Com's Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Solution Provider Program. CrystalVoice provides enterprise VoIP communications software, including conferencing, remote office extension, and more. CrystalVoice is now approved to sell its software through 3Com's channel of resellers.

NovaRx Gets $2.2M SBIR
San Diego-based NovaRx announced that it has received a $2.2M SBIR grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The grant will be applied over the next four years to the company's therapeutic vaccine for treating brain cancer. The company also announced that it is seeking further private investment to help the company bring its vaccines to market.

LightPointe Ships Free Space Optics Equipment
San Diego-based LightPointe (www.lightpointe.com) has announced a new product based on the company's free-space optics technology. The company's new optical wireless product is 802.af, Power over Ethernet-compliant and can provide up to 100 megabits of full duplex Ethernet capability over 500 meters. The company's products are used to connect corporate networks without the need for traditional wired connections. Movielink Recieves National Geographic Documentary Rights
Santa Monica-based Movielink (www.movielink.com) has received the Internet Rights to National Geographic's documentary offerings. The broadband video-on-demand service will now features a number of National Geographic's documentaries for download. Movielink will create a National Geographic branded area in Movielink's service, and distribute and promote the documentaries to Movielink's US subscribers. Movielink is a joint venture of MGM, Paramount, Sony, Universal, and Warner Bros.

Microsoft Continues Lindows Offensive
Microsoft is continuing its legal fight against San Diego-based Lindows, and has filed a suit in Amsterdam to force Lindows to remove the Lindows name from the company's Linspire.com web site, discontinue access to Lindows web site from the country, and the payment of $100K a day in fines for failing to do so. Lindows had previously lost a suite in Amsterdam where the judge found Lindows to be too common to the name Windows.

Qualcomm Introduces New Multimedia Software For Cell Phones
San Diego-based Qualcomm (www.qualcomm.com) has introduced new multimedia software extensions based on the company's Compact Media Extensions (CMX). The new software provides the ability to create MIDI-based music, text, graphics, animation, speech and sound effects in a time synchronized manner over wireless handsets.
