Wonderware Upgrades Industrial Automation Software
Lake Forest-based Wonderware (www.wonderware.com), a business unit of Invensys, has upgraded its Intouch, industrial automation software. The company's new version 9.0 software adds object-oriented graphical templates for users to easily create interfaces to intelligent systems. The SmartSymbols technology the company is shipping integrated object-oriented technology with graphics in reusable templates.

Mindspeed Adds To Board
Newport Beach-based Mindspeed (www.mindspeed.com) announced that it has elected Donald Gips to the company's board of directors. Gips is a Group Vice President and Level 3 Communications, and has also served as chief domestic policy advisor for Vice President Al Gore at the White House. Gips also has been at the FCC and at McKinsey & Co. Gips will fill the seat of outgoing director Hossein Eslambolchi, president of AT&T Labs.

Ulead Supports DVD+R Double Layer Recording
Torrance-based Ulead (www.ulead.com) said that it has shipped its first software that supports DVD+R double layer recording. Double layer recording allows consumers to burn up to 8.5GB into a single DVD disc. The new software is being shipped as part a bundle with I-O DATA Device's DVD burner in the Japanese market. Ulead also said that it expects to support double layer DVD support in all of its products by the end of 2004.

WebSideStory Files For IPO
San Diego-based WebSideStory (www.websidestory.com) has filed for an IPO to raise up to $57.5M. WebSideStory provides web analytics services, which allow its customers to better understand how Internet users are responding to web design and content, marketing, and e-commerce. The company had revenues of $16.3M in 2003, and a net loss of $1.8M.
