Halozyme Therapeutics Expands Scientific Advisory Board
San Diego-based Halozyme Therapeutics has appointed Gerhard Baumgartner, MD to its Scientific Advisory Board. Professor Baumgartner is at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Clinical Oncology in Vienna, Austria, and focuses on using bovine hyaluronidase enzymes to enhance the effectiveness of chemotherapy agents.

RF Magic Appoints Marketing and Sales Execs
San Diego-based RF Magic has added two new marketing and sales executives. The company has added Rick Beale as VP of World-wide Marketing and Sales, and Vernon Chen as VP of European Sales and Business Development. Beale joins from Legerity, and Cheng joins from Conexant. RF Magic is developing broadband radio frequency (RF) integrated circuits and is backed by Conexant, EchoStar, and others.

j2 Acquires Patent Portfolio
Los Angeles-based j2 Global Communications (www.j2global.com) announced that it has acquired a portfolio of patents from NetOffice Solutions LLC, and has been issued two new U.S. patents on FAX to email and Voice-over-IP technology. The acquired patent portfolio includes four US patents, two foreign patents, and five pending US and foreign patent applications in the area of unified communications and multimedia messaging systems. Apriso, AeroScout Team on RFID
Long Beach-based Apriso has teamed with Aeroscout to provide RFID driven manufacturing and logistics solutions to market. The companies have combined AeroScout's Wi-Fi product suite with Apriso's real-time operations execution system. The new combination will enable software to continuously locate and track inventory and assets. Document Sciences Buys Objectiva Software
Encinitas-based Objectiva Software has agreed to be purchased by Document Sciences Corporation, according to the companies. Objectiva is an enterprise software development firm focused on rapid prototyping, product co-development, and product migration and porting. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Document Sciences is a 21% stakeholder in Objectiva. Objectiva CEO Douglas Winter, COO Tao Ye, and CTO Nasser Bargouti will all become officers of Document Sciences.
