Qualcomm Appoints India President
San Diego-based Qualcomm announced that it has appointed Kanwalinder Singh as president of QUALCOMM India. Singh will head up the company's business initiatives in India and other SOuth Asian countries. Singh joins from Lucent Technologies India.

Arkeia Adds NDMP, Microsoft Support
Carlsbad-bsaed Arkeia announced that it upgraded its Arkeia Network Backup software to include support for NDMP and Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Services. NDMP is a network-based backup protocol implemented by providers such as Network Appliance and Snap Appliance. The Microsoft VSS provides integration into the Microsoft Windows 2003 server platform for data copying and backup. Arkeia's software provides Linux-based enterprise backup.

LG Electronics Deploys Mindspeed
Newport Beach-based Mindspeed announced that LG Electronics has designed in the company's Comcerto VoIP Processor in its new wireless media gateway. LG's new Generex-2000 wideband CDMA media gateway uses the Mindspeed silicon for providing third generation (3G) cellular infrastructure. The new network infrastructure is designed for service providers in Asia, and supports both 3G cell network as well as 2G mobile phones.

Preventsys Links Up With Software Providers
Carlsbad-based Preventsys announced that it has put together a partner program to help integrate its offerings with the offerings of other security software providers. Application Security, Citadel Security Software, eEye Digital Security, and Qualys will all work with Preventsys to integrate their products with the Preventsys Security Management platform.
