Digital Mind Ships Low Cost Digital Audio Device
Carlsbad-based Digital Mind Coporation announced that it has released a new low cost digital audio player and personal information manager. The company's new 20 gigabyte DMC 8270 supports MP3, WMA, and OGG file support, along with an FM tuner and compatibility with USB hard drives. The personal information manager supports Microsoft Outlook synchronization, a calendar, and real time clock.

j2 Adds Pro Fax Service
Los Angeles-based j2 Global Communications is targeting the most active users of its eFax service with the introduction of a new bundled "pro" service. The company's eFax Pro service bundles the company's higher level usage services into a $19.95 per month premium FAX service for users. The new bundle includes the ability to receive up to 200 pages of fax pages per month, voicemail via email attachments, and access to new features of the eFax service.

Conexant Launches MPEG Encoder
Newport Beach-based Conexant has launched a new MPEG-2 audio/video encoder for the consumer electronics market. The company's new MPEG-2 encoder reduced component costs for manufacturers of set-top-boxes, personal computers, digital television sets, and video editing products. Conexant's CX23418 accepts analog and digital video and audio and encodes the results into MPEG compressed video. This allows for storing high quality video and audio in less storage space on electronic devices.

Singlefin, Notiora Signs Agreement For Web Filtering
Cardiff-by-the-Sea-based Singlefin and San Diego-based Notiora have signed a partnership to use Notiora's technology in its managed services. Singlefin will use Notiora's unstructured text filtering technology to classify and control web surfing for Singlefin customers. Singlefin provides a managed email and security service which scans for viruses, controls instant messaging, and filters web surfing. Userplane Targets AV Blogging

Movielink Inks Asian Film Agreement
Santa Monica-based Movielink said today that it has signed a distribution agreement with Tai Seng Entertainment to distribute Tai Seng's Asian films and television programs. Tai Seng is the biggest US distributor of films from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, China, and Korea. All films available for download will be subtitled in English. Intermix Gets Equity Investment
Los Angeles-based Intermix Media announced that it has received an equity investment in the publicly listed company worth $4M, and a strategic investment in its online social networking property MySpace.com. The funding is coming from Redpoint Ventures. Intermix said that Redpoint would also invest in a newly organized, independent subsidiary of the company, MySpace Inc.
