Sonos Expands in Europe
Santa Barbara-based digital music system company Sonos said yesterday that it has expanded into Europe. The company has opened a European headquarters in Hilversum, Netherleands, headed by Ingvar Meijers, its new Managing Director of European Sales. Sonos is selling a multi-room audio system for digital music that allows customers to listen to their digital music library anywhere in a home. SKY MobileMedia, Sun Microsystems Collaborate On Java Phones
San Diego-based SKY MobileMedia, a provider of application software for wireless phones, said yesterday that it has inked an agreement with Sun Microsystems to extend its software into mobile Java. SKY will integrate a Java technology client for mobile phones on Java technology licensed from Sun. QUALCOMM Releases Eudora Email Server
San Diego-based QUALCOMM has released an updated version of its Eudora WorldMail email server software. The new version 3 of the software, based on Rockliffe's MailSite email server technology, provides email services. The company is marketing the server to education, government, and enterprise customers. The email server provides new advanced security features including anti-virus, anti-spam support, denial-of-service protection, and content filtering.

PeoplePC Resells CallWave Call Management
Santa Barbara-bsaed CallWave and PeoplePC, a low cost internet service provider (ISP) have inked a deal to resell Callwave's call management application. PeoplePC, a subsidiary of EarthLink, will offer the CallWave Internet Call Waiting application to its customer base. CallWave's application notifies users when people call their phone, when they are online, by displaying the name and phone number on their PC; the service then allows users to either take the call or listen to a voice message.

Sun Microsystems Buys Procom
Procom Technology has sold its network attached storage (NAS) software intellectual property to Sun Microsystems Monday. Procom is an Irvine-based developer of enterprise NAS storage arrays, providing high availability features, and has an existing OEM agreement with Sun. The deal was worth approximately $50M in cash. Zetera Raises $13.5M
Irvine-based Zetera said this morning that it has raised $13.5M in a Series A funding from Warburg Pincus and WI Harper. Zetera is developing IP-based storage networking technology aimed at low-cost IP connectivity for storage arrays. The company has created a IP-based storage protocol designed to be implemented on low cost disk drives. Zetera has relationships with NETGEAR, StorCase, and Bell Microproducts, all of whom have announced plans to ship Zetera-based IP storage products this summer.
