i2 Buys RiverOne
i2 Technologies has purchased the assets of RiverOne, the Irvine-based supply chain management software firm. Terms were not disclosed. i2 said that it is buying RiverOne as a part of its growth strategy for expanding its customer base. i2 said that it expects to continue to support RiverOne's previous customers, and hiring a number of RiverOne employees. RiverOne was a developer of supply chain management software for the electronics manufacturing industry, and itself was a result of the merger (More info...)

CaseStack Appoints CFO, VP
Santa Monica-based CaseStack, a provider of logistics outsourcing for packaged goods suppliers, has named a new CFO. The firm said that Tracy Edwards has joined the company as CFO, and also said that Joseph Blunt has been named as vice president of customer service. Edwards most recently served as CEO and CFO of Bell Industries, and has also served at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Blunt most recently served at Destination America, and also spent time with Walt Disney Company, GM, and Intel.

IT Services Providers Merge
Tustin-based Information Consulting Group, a provider of IT services and project management, said yesterday that it has acquired Net Solutions, another Tustin-based firm. Terms were not disclosed. The two companies will focus on program management and IT services, in the area of process improvement, program management, outsourcing, security implementation, and other areas for mid-size to large enterprises. The firm will continue to be headed by Tim Britt, current CEO of ICG.

Hollywood Shuts Down Major File Swapping Hub
The Motion Picture Association (MPAA) is cheering the shutdown of a major file swapping hub, Razorback2, by authorities in Belgium and Switzerland yesterday. The group said yesterday that police and prosecuters had shut down the major eDonkey peer to peer server, which the group claims had an index of over 170 million files, including copyrighted movies, software, games, TV programming, and music. Cadence Pharmaceuticals Gets $60.8M In Funding, Licenses Product
San Diego-based Cadence Pharmaceuticals has raised $60.8M in financing in a combination of equity and debt. The firm, which is focused on developing biopharmaceuticals for hospitals, also said that it acquired the development and commercialization rights to an intravenous formulation of acetaminophen (IV APAP) from Bristol-Myers Squibb. ITU Ventures Raises $120M
Los Angeles-based ITU Ventures, a venture firm focused on seed and early stage investments in university spinoffs, is announcing today that it has closed a new fund, ITU Ventures III.
