Interview with Stephanie Yanchinski, Pasadena Entretec
Stephanie Yanchinski is the executive director of the Pasadena Entretec (www.pasadenaentretec.com), an industry association that is focused on the high tech industry in Los Angeles. I spoke with Stephanie ahead of the group's upcoming annual Entretec PricewaterhouseCoopers Entrepeneurship Awards next week, where the group is recognizing high tech companies in the Los Angeles region. THQ Buys Vigil Games
Agoura Hills-based THQ has acquired Vigil Games, an Austin-based developer of video games, for an undisclosed amount. THQ said this morning that it will acquire the firm, which is led by David Adams, a former director of projects for NCSoft, and comic artist Joe Madureira. Vigil is working on a game scheduled for release in 2008 for next generation systems.

Oversee Jumps On Video Swapping Bandwagon
Los Angeles-based Oversee.net has jumped on the the online video bandwagon, with the launch of LiveDigital.com, an online user-driven video and "lifestyle" site. LiveDigital offers blogging, video, and photo sharing, along with categorized content and tags. The site joins sites like YouTube, Revver, TagWorld, MySpace, and a host of others in a rush to develop online communities based on sharing user photos, videos, and opinions. Avamar Snags Veritas Exec
Irvine-based Avamar Technologies has appointed a new vice president, hiring CLint McVey as VP of Product Operations. McVey was most recently General Manager and Vice President of the Data Management Group at VERITAS Software, and managed Veritas' Backup Exec and NetBackup product lines. McVey also has served at Seagate Software, where he was senior director of engineering for its Backup Exec product line. Avamar is a provider of backup software.

Luxtera Appoints VP
Carlsbad-based Luxtera said this week that it has hired Edward P. (Ted) Holtaway as Senior Vice President of Operations. Holtaway joins the firm from Cymer, where he was EVP of Lithography Systems SOlutions. Luxtera said that Holtaway will help the company bring its CMOS photonic chips to high volume production. Luxtera is developing photonic chip technology that can be fabricated on high volume CMOS process, and just announced a round of funding this week.
