Google Rolls Out Domain Name Registration Services
Mountain View-based Google has rolled out new domain name registration services, the firm announced late Thursday night. The new domain name registration features are part of the Google Apps For Your Domain service, and are live as of last night. Arizona-based GoDaddy and Bellevue, Washington-based eNom, a domain name registrar that is now owned by Richard Rosenblatt's Santa Monica-based Demand Media, have partnered with Google to provide the new domain name registration services. Warner Bros. Invests In European Game Publisher
Burbank-based Warner Bros. Entertainment said today that it will make an investment in SCi Entertainment Group, the parent company of Eidos Interactive. Warner said the deal represents 10.3 percent of SCi's share capital. The deal comes as part of an agreement for licensing and distributiong of games based on Warner Bros. Solarflare Taps Folino For Board
Irvine-based Solarflare Communications has added Paul Folino, chairman and CEO of Emulex, to its board of directors, the firm said this morning. Folino heads up Orange County-based Emulex, a provider of network storage components for the stroage area networking industry. Solarflare is developing 10 gigabit Ethernet semiconductors used for enabling 10G Ethernet over copper connections. Solarflare is currently sampling its 10GBASE-T chips.

Staccato, SK Telecom Partner On UWB Network
San Diego-based Staccato Communications and SK Telecom said today that they will deploy a network based on Ultra Wideband (UWB) mobile phone technology. SK Telecom will use Staccato's silicon to deliver mobile services globally. According to the firms, the services will initially be launched in Korea, and then rolled out worldwide to other operators. Qualstar Appoints CFO
Simi Valley-based Qualstar, a manufacturer of tape storage libraries, said today that it has appointed Andrew A. Farina as the firm's VP and Chief Financial Officer. Farina was most recently CFO of 99 Cents Only Stores. Farina has also served at Crown/BBK and Benchmark Holdings.

Materia Licenses Technology To Merck
Pasadena-based Materia, a provider of catalysts for pharmaceutical products, said today that it has licensed its metathesis platform to pharmaceutical company Merck & Co. Financial terms of the non-exclusive license were not disclosed. Materia's technology is used for synthesizing new pharmaceutical products and for production processes. Materia said the technology will be used by Merck in its drug discovery and development programs.
