Southern California Venture Investments Hit $3.4B For 2006
Southern California's Venture Capital investments totaled roughly $534.7M in the fourth quarter of 2006, according to data from socalTECH, with total disclosed investments in the region for the year totaling just over $3.4B. Southern California's most active investment group in the fourth quarter continued to be the Tech Coast Angels, which made nine investments in the quarter; followed by Enterprise Partners, which made three investments. Report: $3.72B Raised In 2006 IPOs
Dow Jones VentureOne is reporting this morning that there was $3.72 billion in 56 IPOs for 2006, the most IPO activity and largest total raised since 2004. 18 companies had initial public offerings in the fourth quarter, according to the firm, with an aggregate total of $1.23 billion raised in the quarter. RF Magic Adds Marketing VP
San Diego-based RF Magic, a designer of semiconductors for the broadband radio frequency market, said today that it has appointed Angelo Stephano Senior Vice President of Marketing. Stephano has previously served in senior marketing and executive positions at Conexant Systems, GlobespanVirata, and Rockwell Semiconductor Systems. RF Magic is developing RF components targeted at set-top boxes, home media, and fixed wireless modems.

D-Link Gets Windows Vista Stamp
Fountain Valley-based D-Link has received approval from Microsoft for use of its Draft 802.11N router with Microsoft's upcoming Vista operating system, the firm announced Tuesday. D-Link said that its Xtreme N DIR-655, a wireless home network router, has received the "Works With Windows Vista" logo. The certification indicates compatibility with Microsoft's upcoming Windows Vista operating system.
