Axiom Microdevices Raises $25M
Irvine-based Axiom Microdevices said Thursday morning that it raised $25M in a Series C funding. The round came from Tallwood Venture Capital, and also included existing investors U.S. Venture Partners, Anthem Venture Partners, and VentureTech Alliance. Axiom is a developer of fully integrated CMOS power amplifiers used for the wireless industry.

Linspire, Canonical In Linux Deal
San Diego-based Linspire, developer of the Linspire Linux operating system distribution, and Canonical Ltd., which maintains the popular Ubuntu Linux operating system, said today that the two firms are in a technology partnership. The two companies said that Linspire will transition from Debian to Ubuntu as the base for the firm's Linspire and Freespire desktop operating system, starting with a release in Q1 of this year. Ubuntu will also include Linspire's CNR e-commerce technology in Ubuntu.

Evolution Robotics Get Win In Taiwan
Pasadena-based Evolution Robotics, an Idealab company that develops robotics toolkits and technology, said today that it has been selected by the Taiwan Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI). ITRI has selected the Evolution Robotics Software Platform as a standard architecture for robotic application development in Taiwan. The platform will be used in corporations, labs, and universities for robotics development.

TV Guide Launches On Verizon V CAST
Los Angeles-based TV Guide Mobile, a subsidiary of Gemstar-TV Guide, said yesterday that Verizon Wireless is in a joint agreement with the firm to provide V CAST program listings. TVGuide.com will feature programming on Verizon's mobile V CAST broadcast channel. The deal also includes a mobile version of the guide available to V CAST subscribers. V CAST is Verizon's broadband wireless multimedia video service, which currently includes news, sports, weather and television clips and videos.

Networkcar Signs Partner
San Diego-based Networkcar, a provider of wireless vehicle management products, and Wright Express Corporation said Wednesday that the two companies are in a strategic relationships. The two will offer remote vehicle maintenance diagnostics and GPS vehicle location information to their common customers. Networkcar provides remote monitoring of fleet vehicles; Wright Express provides information management and payment processing for U.S. commercial and vehicle fleets.

Ixia Upgrades SSL Security Testing
Calabasas-based Ixia said this week that it has upgraded its SSL security testing capabilities in its test systems. The company said that its IxLoad Triple Play test product now provides performance gains of more than 300 percent, and that it has also updated its encryption algorithm support. Ixia's test systems are used by hardware manufacturers to test their equipment performance. SSL is the network security protocol used for secure web transactions.
