Broadcom Completes Octalica Acquisition
Irvine-based Broadcom has completed its acquisition of Octalica, the firm said Monday morning. The deal was worth $31M in cash. Octalica develops semiconductors based on the Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) standard, used for digital multimedia networking in the home. The deal was originally announced in May. Broadcom is a provider of a wide range of semiconductors for the networking, data, and communications markets, and had 2006 revenues of $3.67 billion.

j2 Global Expands Services
Los Angeles-based j2 Global Communications has expanded the firm's voice services into eight new European markets, plus Canada, the firm announced this morning. The company said that it is now offering local service telephone numbers in Canada, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Ireland, The Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Finland. The firm's voice services includes a virtual phone system targeted at small businesses, which includes auto-attendants, voicemail, faxing, and conferencing features.

Conexant Rolls Set Top Box Chipset
Newport Beach-based Conexant Systems has announced a new chipset targeted at set-top box applications. The firm said that a new pair of chips provide a front end digital solution for use in set-top-boxes, PC video capture cards, and integrated digital televisions. Conexant's CX24230 digital video broadcasting-terrestrial (DVB-T) demodulator and CX24210 worldwide terrestrial and cable tuner are used by hardware designers to develop set-top boxes and other applicaitons. eCost.com Taps Etilize For Product Listings
El Segundo-based eCost.com, an online retailer of technology and consumer electronics, said today that it has partnered with Rolling Hills Estates-based Etilize, to enhance its shopping experience. eCOST.com will use Etilize for the firm's product information, which includes descriptions, part numbers, marketing copy, and images of consumer products. Financial terms of the partnership were not disclosed. eCost.com is a subsidiary of PFSweb.

TV Guide Syndicates Online
Los Angeles-based Gemstar-TV Guide International has syndicated its program listings grid to a number of online providers of information. The company said today that it has signed agreements to syndicate its program listings grid to Inergize Digital Media, a division of Clear Channel Broadcasting; The New York Post; and Infospace. The deal covers TV listings for 35 Clear Channel affiliate stations; the New York Post's web site; and portals operated by InfoSpace. Financial terms of the licensing (More info...)

IOGEAR Takes On Vista Migration
Irvine-based IOGEAR, a provider of networking and other equipment for the home and small business market, announced a new product for the Windows Vista migration market. The company said that its has shipped a new Smartlink Transfer Cable for Windows Vista, which allows users of Microsoft's new operating system to transfer their files from a computer running Windows XP to Windows Vista.
