WebMessenger Re-Acquired By Founders
Los Angeles-based WebMessenger, a provider of software for connecting business applications with mobile devices, said Friday that it has acquired Apptix WebMessenger, a subsidiary of Apptix, Inc. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Apptix had acquired WebMessenger in April of last year in a $7M acquisition. United Online Breaks Out Classmates Results, Continues To Eye IPO
Woodland Hills-based United Online said Thursday as part of its quarterly earnings releases that it will begin breaking out financial results from the firm's Classmates Media business, as the firm continues to eye an IPO of the unit. United Online, withdrew its IPO of Classmates in December, citing market conditions. Gorilla Nation Hires CFO
Los Angeles-based Gorilla Nation announced today that the firm has hired Bill Foltz as CFO of the online advertising firm. Foltz joins the firm from Sports Business Ventures, where he was Partner and Managing Principal. Sports Business Ventures is an early stage venture capital and advisory firm focused on sports-related investments. Central Desktop Boosts Obama California Campaign
Pasadena-based Central Desktop, which offers an online service for project collaboration, said today that the firm's services were selected by The Barack Obama Presidential Campaign to support its California state-wide field operations. ViaSat Names Wildblue's Moore As VP
Carlsbad-based ViaSat, which develops equipment for the networking and satellite communications market, said today that it has named Tom Moore as the firm's Senior Vice President and President of its new Ka-band broadband satellite initiative. Moore is the co-founder, director, and former president and CEO of Internet-via-satellite firm WildBlue Communications. moore was most recently a principal at TimesArrow, a venture capital firm located in Denver.
