Interpolls Gets Win With MythBusters
Pasadena-based rich media widget ad firm Interpolls has scored a win with Discovery Channel and its popular MythBusters show, the firm said earlier this week. Interpolls said that Discovery Channel will promote the upcoming season of "MythBusters" using its rich media widgets and "question-based" ad units. The widgets will ask questions about the show to engage users. Interpolls' ad widgets can be embedded into social networking and other web pages. Occam Networks Hires Controller
Santa Barbara-based Occam Networks, a manufacturer of broadband access hardware for the telecommunications industry, said Friday that it has added Donald F. DePascal as the firm's new Corporate Controller. DePascal joins the firm from PalmSource, where he also served as VP and Corporate Controller. DePascal has also served at data storage firm Quantum Corporation. Socialcast Enhances Social Networking Software
Irvine-based Socialcast, a developer of software for creating corporate social networks, said this week that the firm has upgraded its software-as-a-service platform. Socialcast said it has added new bookmarking tools, user profile features, work logging features, and way to help employees connect with other employees with common interests. FunnyOrDie: We've Got Another Hit
Los Angeles-based FunnyOrDie, the online comedy web site, said today that the firm's latest video -- a spoof campaign video featuring Paris Hilton -- has become the web site's biggest hit, racking up over 6.2 million views over the last two days. FunnyOrDie's spoof campaign ad, was inspired by the controversial John McCain ad comparing Barack Obama to celebrities Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. Etronica Rolls Out Web Site Creation Tools
Pacific Palisades-based Etronica, which develops PublishPalLite, a web site creation service, said this week that it has unveiled two new web services targeted at schools and teachers. The firm said that it has rolled out SchoolPal and TeacherPal, two website management systems focused on helping educators create and maintain web sites. QLogic Ships New Storage Protocol Adapters
Aliso Viejo-based QLogic said this week that it has begun shipping new Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) adapters. Fibre Channel over Ethernet is a new standard for transmitting data storage traffic over standard Ethernet connections. QLogic claimed that it is the first to ship a FCoE adapter into general availability.
