Robertson Launches Mobile Music Search Site
Former MP3.com founder Michael Robertson has launched a new, mobile music web site called TuneRoom, Robertson announced Monday, which will help mobile phone users search and find MP files for their cell phones. The new WAP site allows users to search for music tracks, and can automatically send MP3 tracks wirelessly to a cell phone. Geni Rolls New Holiday Calendar, Pro Features
Los Angeles-based Geni, the online genealogy and social networking site run by ex-PayPal cofounder David Sacks, has rolled out two new features. According to the firm in an announcement to users Friday, it has added popular holidays to its calendar, and also added new virtual gifts for those holidays which can be sent to family. Skweezer Signs JumpTap
Irvine-based Skweezer, which provides services for translating web sites to mobile phone formats, along with an advertising network, said Monday that it has partnered with JumpTap. According to the firms, Skweezer's mobile content optimization technology is available on JumpTap's mobile search applications. Skweezer's technology converts any web site into a mobile-optimized format. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed. Specific Media Bolsters Sales Team
Irvine-based Specific Media, which operates an online advertising network, said Monday that it has hired four for the firm's sales and client relations teams. According to Specific Media, it has hired Kathy Benigo, Jolene Ortiz, Ray Duncan, and Matthew Donner for the firm's sales team. Benigo joins from Disney Online, Ortiz from Yahoo!, Duncan from Autobytel, and Donner from Yahoo!.

Mogreet Links Deal With Fox Searchlight
Venice Beach-based Mogreet, a provider of mobile video greeting cards, said today that it has inked a deal with Fox Mobile Entertainment to provide greetings based on Fox Searchlight movies. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Mogreet--which is venture backed by Ascend Venture Group, Black Diamond Ventures, DFJ Frontier, and Spyglass Ventures--provides a service which sends video greetings via MMS, SMS and mobile phones. Solarflare Pulls In $44M More
Irvine-based Solarflare Communications, a manufacturer of 10 Gigabit Ethernet semiconductors, announced today that it has raised $44M in a combination of debt and equity funding. Solarflare said it has raised $32M in equity financing along with $12M in venture debt. The equity came from Oak Investment Partners, Acacia Capital, and Anthem Venture Partners; source of the debt financing was not disclosed. Teledyne Buys Instrumentation Firm
Thousand Oaks-based Teledyne Technologies said today that it has acquired Odom Hydrographic Systems, a Louisiana-based firm developing hydrographic survey instrumentation. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Teledyne said that Baton Rouge-based Odom has designs and manufactures equipment for port survey, dredging, offshore energy and other applications. Veoh In International Partnership
Los Angeles- and San Diego-based Veoh Networks, a provider of Internet video sharing services, said today that it has entered into a partnership with Axel Springer Digital TV Guide GmbH. AWR Links With Test Equipment Firm
El Segundo-based AWR, a developer of high frequency design software for the EDA market, said today that it has linked with Rohde & Schwarz, a manufacturer of test equipment. AWR said that it has entered into a sales distribution partnership with Rohde & Schwarz in China, Taiwan, Singapore, and Malaysia. The agreement follows a recent, similar agreement between the two firms in Japan. AWR said the move will boost use of its software in the Asia Pacific region.
