SpaceX Preps Satellite Launch
Hawthorne-based SpaceX, the rocket technology firm headed by Paypal founder Elon Musk, reported Monday that it is prepping a launch of a Malaysian satellite built by Astronautic Technology (M) Sdn Bhd (ATSB) next month. SpaceX said that the launch will use its Falcon 1 rocket, and that its launch window is currently scheduled to open on Monday, April 20th at 4pm. MySpace Ties Into Windows Mobile, Silverlight
Los Angeles-based social networking site MySpace announced Monday that it is supporting a pair of Microsoft technologies: Microsoft Windows Mobile and Microsoft Silverlight. Windows Mobile is Microsoft's embedded operating system for cell phones and other devices; Silverlight is Microsoft's rich media Internet and streaming application. EQAL Hits Japan
Los Angeles-based EQAL, the production firm behind Youtube sensation lonelygirl15, said this morning that it has inked a licensing agreement in Japan. According to EQAL, entertainment company Shinto Tsushin will distribute lonelygirl15 and KateModern throughout Japan, and will create original content based on the franchise. Rustic Canyon Bolsters LoopNet
Los Angeles-based venture capital investor Rustic Canyon Partners is part of a group investing $50M in private equity in San Francisco-based LoopNet, which operates an online marketplace for commercial real estate. According to LoopNet, Calera Capital, Trinity Ventures, and Rustic Canyon Partners are investing $50M in convertible preferred stock in the publicly held firm. According to LoopNet, the financing will provide it with additional resources in an "unprecedented market environment."

D2 Links With Lotus
Santa Barbara-based D2 Technologies, a developer of embedded software for smart phones, said today that the firm has linked its mCUE software with IBM Lotus Sametime. IBM's software is used for unified communications in enterprises. D2 is targeting OEMs and device manufacturers with its software, which offers user interfaces and other software to connect to voice-over-IP systems. D2's software works with IP PBX systems, and other voIP systems like Google Talk, MSN, AIM, and others.

WD Buys SiliconSystems
Lake Forest-based Western Digital Corp. said this morning that it has acquired Aliso Viejo-based SiliconSystems, a manufacturer of solid state disk drives, in a deal worth $65M in cash. According to Western Digital, SiliconSystems will added to the firm as a new division. Michael Hajeck, founder and CEO of SiliconSystems, will become Senior Vice President and General Manager of WD's newly formed Solid State Storage Business. QLogic Ships Adapters, Gets FCOE Design Wins
Aliso Viejo-based storage hardware manufacturer QLogic reports this morning that it has scored "multiple tier one" OEM design wins on its new, Fibre Channel over Ethernet network adapters. Names of those OEMs were not disclosed, nor was financial impact of the design wins. QLogic said its new QLogic 8100 series of PCI-Express adapters are based on a single-chip, and are available today. DTS In Strategic Alliance
Agoura Hills-based DTS Digital Cinema disclosed this morning that it is in a strategic alliance to co-brand products along with Qube Cinema. The firm, which develops surround sound audio technology, said that the two firms will develop and market "numerous" digital cinema products. Quest Software Gets Dell Cert
Aliso Viejo-based Quest Software announced today that the firm has joined computer giant Dell's partner program for ISVs, and certified its Foglight software with Dell OpenManage. According to Quest, its application--used to monitor and manage softare applications and hardware--now integrates with Dell OpenManage, which is Dell's systems management software.
