Laserfiche Sues SAP Over Trademark
Long Beach-based Laserfiche, a developer of enterprise content management products, said Monday afternoon that it has sued SAP America, SAP AG, and SAP Global Marketing over the trademark Run Smarter. The firm said that it has been using Run Smarter as a trademark since 2004, and that SAP has been using its trademark without permission. MeFeedia Snags Eytan Elbaz As Advisor
Burbank-based MeFeedia, the online video guide site run by Frank Sinton, said today that it has added Eytan Elbaz to the firm's advisory board. Elbaz is one of the co-founders of Appled Semantics, the firm which developed Google AdSense. Elbaz is currently head of Deep Dive Media. MeFeedia said that the addition of Elbaz will help the firm strengthen the technology behind its video services.

Awareness Technologies Ties With Ingram Micro
Los Angeles-based Awareness Technologies, a provider of data loss prevention software, said today that it has inked a strategic marketing agreement with Ingram Micro, the technology distributor. The firm said it is working with Ingram's services division to market its On-Demand Insider Security products. Row 44 Names Lefkowitz As Exec
Westlake Village-based Row 44, the developer of in-flight wireless systems, said today that it has added Howard Lefkowitz as the firm's Chief Commercial Officer. Lefkowitz was most recently CEO of Vegas.com, and also joins the company's board. Row 44 said Lefkowitz will be based in a new, Las Vegas office, and will be responsible for marketing and branding of the firm. Row 44 is providing in-flight wireless to Southwest Airlines. AeroVironment Completes Global Observer Flight Demonstration
Monrovia-based Aerovironment, the developer of unmanned aerial vehicles and electric transportation products, said today that the first aircraft developed under the Global Observer program has completed initial flight testing. Global Observer is a program to develop long-term flying aircraft to provide surveillance for the military; the goal is for aircraft to fly as long as a week at a time at very high elevations, between 55,000 and 65,000 feet. WebVisible: Small Business Advertising Increases, But Slowly
Irvine-based WebVisible, which provides local search marketing and ad placement for small businesses, reports that its latest quarterly advertising report shows that search advertising spending by small business is increasing, but is doing so more slowly that recent quarters. The firm said that the average advertisers in its survey spend $2,327 on paid search advertising in Q3, up 43 percent over Q3 of last year. Local.com Drops LEC Billing Acquisitions
Irvine-based Local.com, the online operator of local search advertising sites, said today that it has suspended its acquisition of LEC-billed subscribers, and will focus on providing its own, credit-card local business product, Exact Match. The firm had recently been acquiring small business customers being served by LEC (Local Exchange Carrier) billing, where customers were billed for operating their web sites through their phone bill. EdgeCast Gets Into Cloud Storage
Santa Monica-based EdgeCast said Friday that it has entered into the cloud storage market. EdgeCast said that it is offering up cloud-based storage using its content delivery network as a beta service, and would start offering its service and transfer fees for free during the beta. EdgeCast is an operator of a content delivery network (CDN). The company said that, after the beat, it will charge 7.5 cents per gigabyte per month for the starge service.
