SocialCast Acquired By VMware
Socialcast, a developer of enterprise social networking tools which had started in Orange County but was later moved to San Francisco, has been acquired by VMware. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Socialcast< had started in Irvine, but was poached to the Bay Area after getting a Series A funding from Bay Area venture firms, including Baseline Ventures, Menlo Ventures, and True Ventures. Socialcast was previously known as Event Robot.

Amos Content Group Gets Angel Funding
Santa Monica-based Amos Content Group, a provider of editorial and video content services, said today that it has scored a round of angel funding. The firm, which provides online video creation for such firms as SodaHead, Fox, SPIKE, and others, said the funding came from angel investor Michael Wolper. Financial details of the funding were not disclosed.

Schmoozd Unveils Startup Presenters
Los Angeles-based Schmoozd, the startup networking event run by John Diep, said that it has selected twelve startups to present at its upcoming Startup to Startup event Wednesday. Mad Catz Launches Game Studio
San Diego-based Mad Catz Interactive announced this morning that it has launched a new, game studio, ThunderHawk Studios, which will focus on massively multiplayer, online, flight simulation games. The new studio, also based in San Diego, is expected to launch its first game in 2012. Mad Catz has been making some moves in the flight simulation area recently, having acquired flight simulation and accessory developer V Max Simulation in February. Six Degree Games Raises $4.0M
Marina Del Rey-based Six Degree Games, the developer of online virtual worlds for children, has raised another $4.0M in funding, according to a regulatory filing from the firm late Friday. No details on the funding have yet been announced by the company, which is run by Minard Hamilton. OpenX Gets $20M From SAP, Others
Los Angeles-based OpenX Technologies, the developer of online advertising serving software, announced this morning that it has raised $20M in a Series D funding round. The round was led by SAP Ventures, and also included new investors AOL Ventures, Mitsui & Co. Global Investment, Inc., and Presidio Ventures, along with prior investors Accel Partners, Index Ventures and DAG Ventures. As part of the funding SAP Ventures will join the company's board. Savings.com Hires Two
Santa Monica-based Savings.com, the online coupon site run by Loren Bendele, announced this morning that it has named Brian Lee as Head of Consumer Experience, and Meghan Stuyvenberg as head of Public Relations and Community Management. The firm said Lee joins from BabyCenter.com, where he was Director of Product Management, and that Stuyvenberg joins from Hill & Knowlton Australia. Local.com Boosts Management Team
Irvine-based Local.com has bolstered its executive ranks this morning, saying that it has named Rob Luskey as Vice President of Business Development, and Steven Dong as Vice President of Finance. Laskey was most recently Local.com's Senior Director, Business Development, and DOng joins the firm from Rovion, the firm recently acquired by Local.com.
