RealtyTrac Acquires Homefacts
Irvine-based RealtyTrac, which provides an online marketplace and service to track foreclosure properties, said this week that it has acquired Homefacts, an online data aggregator tracking real estate information. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. As part of the acquisition, RealyTrac said that Homefacts founder James Moyle joins the company as president and Chief Operating Officer. Hulu Tops 50,000 TV Episodes, Plans New Original Series
Los Angeles-based streaming video site Hulu has been in New York this week pitching its service to advertisers at its Hulu Upfronts event, revealing today four new original series, plus some statistics on the service. Hulu said it has added "We Got Next", "The Awesomes", "Don't Quit Your Daydream" and "Flow" as new upcoming series rolling out on the service this year and beyond, as it expands its own original content efforts. DinnerDate.com Launches Group Dating Service In San Diego
Are you single, but really hate setting up those one-on-one dates? Wish there were a more relaxed way to meet people? That's the idea behind DinnerDate.com, a new service which looks to connect singles with others in informal, group dinner dates. Qualcomm Backs Video Chat Service Tango
San Diego-based Qualcomm is backing a developer of mobile video chat services, Tango, via its Qualcomm Ventures arm, the two companies announced today. According to Tango, it has raised $40M in a Series C funding round, led by Qualcomm Incorporate, and also including Access Industries, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Michael Birch, Andy Bechtolsheim, Bill Hambrecht, and others. Lifecrowd Finds $5M From Groupon Founders, Others
Santa Monica-based LifeCrowd, the social activities website headed by Bong Koh, has raised $5M in a initial funding round, the company is announcing today. The startup, which offers up a website which helps consumers find fun activities in their local area, said the funding came from Lightbank, the venture arm of the founders of Groupon, as well as Bullpen Capital, Baroda Ventures, and Prism VentureWorks, as well as local venture accelerator MuckerLab. Mogreet Opens Midwest Sales Office
Los Angeles-based Mogreet, coming off a new round of venture funding, is in expansion mode, saying that it has opened up a new Midwest sales office for the company. Mogreet said it has opened up a new office headed by Joshua Pyne, who the firm snagged from ChaCha, the mobile questions and answers service. TeleSign Names New CFO
Los Angeles-based TeleSign has appointed a new CFO, saying today that it has named Matthew Hardy as its new Chief Financial Officer. The firm, which provides phone-based, Internet fraud prevention and authentication services to major Internet properties, said that Hardy joins the company from LiveOffice. Hardy was most recently CFO at the firm, before the company's acquisition by Symantec. Hardy also has served at Digital Insight and Credit Suisse. TeleSign is headed by Steve Jillings.
