Club Caveman Takes To Kickstarter To Bring App To Life
A mobile app new project by a local, Los Angeles team has taken to Kickstarter to help fund its efforts to create an animated, interactive caveman for your iPhone and iPad. The team -- made up of veterans from local, Silicon Beach technology companies -- said it is developing Club Caveman, a mobile app that combines movie-quality animation with all the interactivity of an iPad or iPhone. End of Free Conference Calling Services?
Have you ever wondered how people are able to provide free, conference calling services to you, without having to charge a lot of money? Report: MovieClips Raises Series C
Venice-based MovieClips, the online site which allows people to share and view clips from movies, has raised a Series C funding round, according to reports. No details on the funding, which was first reported by Dan Primack at FORTUNE, have been released. The report said the valuation of the roudn was around $80M. Baroda In Fab.com's New $105M Funding
Los Angeles investor Baroda Ventures, the venture capital arm of David Bohnett, has re-upped on online fashion and e-commerce site Fab.com, in a big, $105M third round of funding for that site. Baroda has been an investor in Fab since its seed funding back in June of 2010. Fab.com said the new funding round was led by Atomico, and also included Pinnacle Ventures, re-Net Technology Partners, Mayfield Fund, DoCoMo, Menlo VEntures, Andreessen-Horowitz, and First Round Capital. Vyclone Launches Collaborative Video Editing App
A new, Los Angeles-based startup, Vyclone, said today that it has launched its social, collaborative, and sharing app for the iPhone, which allows users to take videos from multiple people at the same event, and allows them to collaboratively edit those videos, synchronizing them into a single movie. Independa Links With GreatCall
San Diego-based Independa, the developer of electronic devices and services to help encourage independent living among the elderly, said yesterday that it has integrated an urgent response system from fellow San Diego firm GreatCall into its wireless monitoring platform. MaxLinear: Patent Lawsuit Without Merit
Carlsbad-based MaxLinear, the manufacturer of radio frequency and mixed signal semiconductors, has responded to the patent lawsuit filed against the firm yesterday by Silicon Laboratories, and says the lawsuit is "without merit". MaxLinear said the complaint is part of a "continuing pattern of making false accusations against the company" by Silicon Laboratories.
