FieldLevel Launches Matching Algorithm For Sports Recruiting
Can a software algorithm help student athletes and coaches connect better? Los Angeles-based FieldLevel, which operates an online social network aimed at coaches and sports recruiting, said Friday that it has rolled out new technology its says allows coaches to more easily identify student athletes, making it easier for teams to attract better talent. Tumblr Expands In Los Angeles
Online photo blogging platform Tumblr is the latest, hot Internet startup to set up shot in Los Angeles, saying that it has opened up its first, official West Coast office in the city. The firm said Thursday that the primary function of its office will be sales and outreach, and that it initially has seve, full time employees in Los Angeles. Hasbro, Netflix Team On Kids Programming
Beverly Hills-based Hasbro Studios, the content division of toy maker Hasbro, and streaming media provider Netflix said Thursday that the two are in an expanded, multi-year programming agreement. According to the two, they will add such new Hasbro Studio shows as My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, Transformers Prime, Littlest Pet Shop and Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters, available to Netflix members in the U.S. Financial details of the content deal were not disclosed. Punchcard Gets Award
Punchcard, the developer of mobile loyalty and rewards applications which is backed by Idealab, has won an award at an industry conference, the firm said this week. Punchcard said it won the Future Stars award at the BIA Kelsey Leading in Local conference in Boston a couple of weeks ago, after competing in a "Shark Tank" style demo session. EDF Renewable Services Signs Wind Farm Contract
San Diego-based EDF Renewable Services, a provider of third-party, operations and maintenance services for renewable energy facilities, reported a win this week with the Edom Hill Wind Farm in the San Gorgornio Pass. EDF Renewables said it will provider operations and maintenance services for Clipper wind turbine generators at the location. Size of the win was not disclosed. EDF said the wind farm generates 20MW of renewable energy, and is in the San Gorgonio Pass near Palm Springs.
