Pintofeed Lets You Feed Your Pet, Even If You're Far Away
Is there anything you can't connect nowadays to your smartphone? A new, Pasadena-based startup, Pintofeed, has just raised over $50,00 in crowdfunding for its smartphone-connected pet feeder, which connects to your iPhone, Android, or Windows 8 device. Pintofeed said that its intelligent pet feeder will let users control the feeding of their pets--even if they're across the world, via its smartphone application. AeroVironment Wins Ford For Plug-In Electric Vehicle Charging
Monrovia, California-based electric vehicle charging developer Aerovironment has added a big new customer for its charging station installation service today: Ford Motor Company. According to AeroVironment, it will be the preferred installation partner and authorized charging station supplier for the Ford Focus Electric, C-MAX Energi and Fusion Energi plug-in electric vehicles. RealD Expands Chinese Footprint
Los Angeles-based 3D movie projection technology provider RealD has expanded its footprint in China again, saying Thursday that it has inked a deal with Zhejiang Xingguang Cinema Circuit. RealD said the deal will add its technology in 50 auditoriums in China. Financial impact of the deal were not disclosed. RealD says it now has approximately 1,100 screens equipped with its technology in China. Receptos Flat In IPO
San Diego-based biopharmaceuticals developer Receptos is trading flat after its initial public offering, after pricing last night at $14.00 per share. The developer of biopharmaceuticals for treating immune and metabolic diseases priced at the low end of its estimated IPO range, which was $14.00 to $16.00 per share. Idealab's GoPollGo Acquired By Yahoo
Pasadena-based Idealab has sold another one of its companies to Yahoo today: GoPollGo, a Twitter polling service which let Twitter users collect feedback from their friends and followers. Financial details of the deal were not announced. GoPollGo had been backed by Ram Srinivasan, Phil Schaechter, CrunchFund, Chris Eppstein and Idealab. According to GoPollGo, it will be joining Yahoo! TestFlight Hits Android
Santa Monica-based testing software developer TestFlight said today that it has opened up its private beta for Android to all users. The company--which has been running the private beta for the last 45 days--lets users upload apps, and helps developers track everything from distribution of those apps, user feedback, and beta testing efforts. OUYA Gets $15M For Open Video Game Console
Santa Monica-based OUYA--which is developing a low cost, video game console--said today that it has raised $15M in a funding round, led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, and including Mayfield Fund, NVIDIA, Shasta Ventures, and Occam Partners. Yekra Raises $3M For Video On Demand Platform
Los Angeles-based Yektra announced this morning that it has raised $3M in a Series A funding round. Yekra says it is a digital entertainment distributor connected with an affiliate marketing system. The funding came from Maurice Gallagher, Bray Capital, Shay O'Brien, and Michael Rogers. Yekra says its system helps match content to viewers by genre, by digitally distributing entertainment through different web sites, blogs, social networks, and other destinations.
