Inktank Gets $13.4M For Cloud Storage Technology
Los Angeles-based Inktank, the developer of the open source, massively parallel, distributed file system Ceph, has added $13.4M into its coffers, according to a regulatory filing by the firm Friday. The filing says the funding--in the form of a debt round--came from four investors. Details on the investment have not yet been announced by the company. Inktank, which is a spinout of Dreamhost, has been developing the Ceph distributed file system for Linux, which is used to deliver high performance (More info...)

Tealium Hires Chief Revenue Offier
San Diego-based Tealium said this week that it has added a Chief Revenue Officer to help support the company's rapid growth. The firm said it named Brian Blond as CRO, to oversee its growth strategy and all direct and indirect distribution channels. Blond joins the firm from Vitrue, and also had served at Moxie Software and BladeLogic. Triton Digital Names CTO
Los Angeles-based Triton Digital, the Oaktree Capital-backed provider of digital advertising services to the traditional and online radio market, said today that it has named Jean-Francois ("Jeff") Gadoury as its Chief Technology Officer. Gadoury has been Chief Technology Officer of the company's streaming products for the last six years. uParts Gets $2M To Revolutionize Auto Parts Business
uParts has a mission: revolutionize the auto parts procurement business. HitFix Launches Comedy Channel
Los Angeles-based entertainment news provider HitFix said Thursday that it has launched a new comedy channel on the site. HitFix said its RIOT comedy channel will provide original content, video, and more covering the "lighter side of entertainment and celebrity." Amgen In Chinese Joint Venture
Thousand Oaks-based biotech giant Amgen said Thursday that it is in a joint venture with Chinese company Zhejiang Beta Pharma, to commercialize the firm's Vectibix (panitumumab) product in the Chinese market. Financial arrangements of the joint venture were not announced. The two said the new JV will be named Amgen-Beta Pharmaceuticals Co., and that Zhejiang Beta Pharma will own 51 percent of the company, with Amgen owning the remaining 49 percent. Isis Pharmaceuticals Gets $3.5M From Biogen Idec
Carlsbad-based biopharmaceuticals developer Isis Pharmaceuticals reported Thursday that it has received $3.5M in a milestone payment, from Biogen Idec. The company said the payment was received as part of a Phase 2 study milestone of a treatment for infants with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). Isis is collaborating with Biogen Idec to develop and potentially commercialize the compound. The two had inked a deal in January of 2012 for the development and licensing of the drug.
