Beachmint: We're Still Alive, Kicking, Despite Reports
Los Angeles-based BeachMint, headed by Josh Berman and Diego Berdakin, has a message to the Los Angeles technology community: the company is still alive, kicking, and has the full support of its investors. The message came after a report that BeachMint was returning $20M to its investors and had ousted its founders. Dreamhammer Hammers Out Deal With Lockheed Martin
Santa Monica-based DreamHammer, which develops software for unmanned aerial vehicles, has inked a deal with Lockheed Martin, where Lockheed Martin is using the company's software for integrated command and control. Financial details of the move were not announced, however, Lockheed Martin said it has demonstrated a system for controlling multiple types of unmanned, aerial systems from a single control point. Engrade Gets $5M More For Education Management Tools
Santa Monica-based Engrade announced this morning that it has raised $5M in a Series B funding round, for the company's district-level education platform. The funding was led by Javelin Venture Partners, and also included Rethink Education, Samsung Venture Investment Corporation, Kapor Capital, Expansion Capital and Ed-Mentor. SpaceX Takes More Steps Towards Human Spaceflight
In a step towards qualifying the firm's spacecraft for use in transporting astronauts, Hawthorne-based SpaceX has passed two, critical milestones for NASA's Commercial Crew Integrated Capability (CCiCap) initiative, NASA said Tuesday afternoon. Activision Releases New Content For Call of Duty: Black Ops II
Santa Monica-based videogame maker Activision said Tuesday that it has released a brand new, downloadable content pack for its popular title, Call of Duty: Black Ops II. The company said the new content pack, Call of Duty: Black Ops II Vengeance, includes new, multi-player maps, a new, zombie-focused map; a paintball course; and more. The content pack is the third for Black Ops II. The new content will initially be available on Xbox Live, with other platforms to follow.
