SpaceX Wins German Satellite Launch Contract
Hawthorne-based SpaceX said Thursday that it has signed a contract to provide launch services for a German radar reconnaissance satellite system, to be launched into orbit in 2018 and 2019. SpaceX said the deal is to provide launch services for Germany's second-generation radar reconnaissance satellite system, provided by OHB System AG and Astrium GmbH. Size of the launch contract was not announced. SpaceX said the deal is the first contract for the firm with a European government.

Flixel Finds Funding From Tyra Banks' Fierce Capital
Flixel, a startup developing mobile photography software, has raised a round of investment from Fierce Capital, the investment arm of supermodel Tyra Banks. The company, which has offices in Los Angeles, said it is developing software which adds a "seamless element of motion" into pictures. Size of the funding round was not announced by the company. M-Go Rolls Out On Vizio, Takes On Netflix
Culver City-based digital entertainment service provider M-GO--a joint venture of DreamWorks Animation and Technicolor--announced Thursday that its digital entertainment service has rolled out on Vizio smart TVs and Internet appliances, allowing users to see new movies and TV shows, ahead of Netflix. According to M-GO, the move allows Vizio's smart TV and Co-Star streaming players with access to the company's library of movies and TV shows from a wide range of studios. PromoJam Launches New Social Marketing Tool
Venice, California-based PromoJam, the social marketing startup headed by Matt and Amanda MacNaughton, said this week that it has launched a new tool for launching social, direct, and mobile marketing campaigns. The startup said its new Be Social platform allows marketers to create branded campaigns and promotions, providing ability to create and design campaigns without having to engage a graphics designer. The company said the new offering starts at $29.99.
