Nativo Names Engineering VP
Los Angeles-based native advertising technology provider Nativo said this morning that it has named Oded Cohen as its new SVP of Engineering. Cohen joins the company from Digital Generation (DG), where he was VP of Engineering, heading up a team of 70. Cohen also served at MediaMind Technologies. Nativo develops online advertising technology used by publishers for managing native ads; the firm is backed by Greycroft Partners, e.ventures and Signia Venture Partners.

Demand Media Officially Becomes gTLD Registrar
Demand Media said today that the company's domain name subsidiary has entered the generic Top-Level Domain (gTLD) market, and has been awarded the contracts necessary to participate as a registrar in the new market. According to Demand Media, its Domain Name Services business officially has become an Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) accredited registry fro the new gTLDs, including both Demand Media's eNom and Name.com businesses. Hulu Names New CFO
Los Angeles-based streaming television site Hulu announced late Friday that it has named Elaine Paul as its new CFO. Paul replaces Tom Fuelling, who had been at Hulu since 2007. Paul was previously SVP of Corporate Strategy at Disney, and also had worked at the Walt Disney Internet Group. Hulu said that Paul had been involved in Disney's original investment in Hulu back in 2009. The new appointment comes on the heels of a new CEO at the company.

llumina Buys NextBio
San Diego-based life sciences equipment manufacturer Illumina said today that it has agreed to acquire NextBio, a developer of big-data based, clinical and genomic informatics software. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. NextBio was based in Santa Clara, California. NextBio's software let users compare genomic information against both public and private data sets. Illumina said that NextBio becomes part of a new, Enterprise Informatics business unit.

Nimble Links Into Microsoft Office 365
Santa Monica-based customer relationship management software prover Nimble announced this morning that it has integrated its software with Microsoft Office 365 and Outlook 2013. The company said the new integration automatically logs message history from Outlook, lets users access Nimble's contact records and profiles from within Outlook, provides contact importing tools from email, and more. Everbridge Signs Massachusetts Utility
Glendale-based Everbridge, the developer of communications and emergency notification services, said today that Westfield Gas & Electric, a utility located in Westfield, Massachusetts, has selected its platform for a severe weather and power outage alert system. Financial impact of the win was not announced. Everbridge said the utility serves approximately 19,000 electric customers and 9,000 gas customers. MaxLinear Wins Chinese TV Manufacturer
Carlsbad-based radio frequency and mixed signal IC provider MaxLinear is reporting a design win with a Chinese television manufacturer this morning. MaxLinear said that Konka Group Co. Ltd., which manufactures color televisions, mobile phones, and other products, has selected its ML661 hybrid TV tuner IC into its latest LED/LCD televisions. Financial details and shipment volumes expected in the deal were not announced.
