cielo24 Gets $5M For Video Search, Captioning API
Santa Barbara-based Cielo24, a developer of technology to which helps caption and make online video searchable, has raised $5M in a Series A funding. The funding was led by ff Venture Capital, and also included North Base Media, Pereg Ventures, Indicator Ventures, Wavemaker Partners and others. cielo24 is led by Brian Plackis-Cheng. cielo24 develops technology to provide captions, transcripts, indexes and other data via an API.

Science 37 Raises $6.5M
Los Angeles-based Science 37, a provider of technology-enabled, clinical research services, has raised $6.5M in a Series A funding round. The funding was co-led by Lux Capital and dRx Capital. Guidance Names New Marketing VP
Marina Del Rey-based Guidance, which helps brands and retailers build online websites and apps, said Monday that it has named Jeff Hererra as its new Vice President of Marketing and Channel Development. Hererra was previously Head of Partner Marketing at Magento. He also has served at Visa. Guidance says it has helped such brands as Foot Locker, Johnny Was, Relax the Back, TOMS Shoes to create their websites and apps.

Imprimis Pharmaceuticals Buys Compounded Sinus Medication Provider
San Diego-based Imprimis Pharmaceuticals announced this morning that it has acquired what it says is the largest provider of compounded, sinus medication in the U.S. Imprimis said it acquired the Topical Apothecary Group, LLC (d/b/a TAG Pharmacy), Aerosol Science Laboratories, Inc. (d/b/a ASL Pharmacy), SinuTopic, Inc. (d/b/a Sinus Dynamics Pharmacy) and Mycotoxins, LLC., all of which were part of Thousand Oaks Holding Company.
