Next Launch For SpaceX, On Thursday, Is Mysterious, Secret Zuma Payload

After its awe-inspiring launch of a rocket over Southern California right before the holidays--which spurred countless number of 911 calls and UFO reports across California and Arizona--Hawthorne-based SpaceX is launching a truly unidentified flying object into space on Thursday, from Florida. According to the Kennedy Space Center, SpaceX is planning to launch its mysterious "Zuma" payload into space for the U.S. government on January 4th, with a launch window that opens at 8 p.m. ET. According to NASA, the launch will also include a controlled landing at Landing Zone 1 (LZ1) at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. SpaceX, and the U.S. government--in a highly unusual move--have so far not identified who the exact U.S. government agency that is sending the "Zuma" payload into space, nor what that payload consists of. The last launch of the Zuma payload was suddenly and mysteriously called off in November, with no explanation. That extra layer of mystery is unusual, even for the U.S. government, which announced the laumch of its mostly-secret space plane on SpaceX in September.
