Owners Of LA Rams Launch A New LA Overwatch League Franchise, the Gladiators

In a further endorsement of how mainstream e-sports has become, the owners of the Los Angeles Rams and Denver Nuggets--Stan and Josh Kroenke--said officially on Thursday that they have created a brand new franchise as part of Blizzard Entertainment's Overwatch League: the LA Gladiators. According to the Kroenke's, the team will wear purple and white jerseys and have a roaring lion logo. Josh Kroenke is President of the NBA's Denver Nuggets and the NHL's Colorado Avalanche; Stan Kroenke is owner of the Los Angeles Rams. The two said LA is the "perfect city" to launch its esports business, because the city is "not only the sports and entertainment capital of the world, but it's also becoming one of the great tech corridors". Like the Los Angeles Rams, the LA Gladiators will also be part of the sports and entertainment stadium district being built for the Los Angeles Ram and Los Angeles Chargers, according to the Korenkes. Blizzard had announced in August that the Kroenke's would be setting up a new team as part of the league. Stan and Josh Kroenke own the Los Angeles Rams, Arsenal Football Club, Denver Nuggets, and Colorado Avalanche.
