Rocket Lab Launches First Satellites Into Space

Huntington Beach-based Rocket Lab, which is developing space launch rockets for delivering small satellite payloads into space, has seen its first successful launch into space. According to Rocket Lab, it delivered three satellite payloads into space from New Zealand on Sunday, placing an Earth imaging satellite for launch customer Planet, and two weather and ship tracking satellites for Spire into space. The company's orbital launch vehicle, Still Testing, was launched at 14:43 New Zealand time. Rocket Lab's CEO and founder is Peter Beck; the company is aiming at delivering small satellite payloads, such as CubeSats, into space.
