Rocket Lab Launches NASA CAPSTONE Spacecraft

Long Beach-based Rocket Lab, which provides space launch services for cube satellites, said today that it has successfully launched a mission for NASA. According to Rocket Lab, it succesfully launched CAPSTONE, a microwave-oven-sized satellite, into space from its launch complex in New Zealand. NASA's CAPSTONE is intended to test a new orbit around the moon for NASA, in preparation for future, moon missions. CAPSTONE was designed and built by another local company, Los Angeles-based Tyvak Nan-Satellite Systems.
