Starlink Launch Triggers Alarm Among Astronomers As Satellites Mar Views

The successful launch of 60 "Starlink" satellites last month by Hawthorne-based SpaceX has triggered concern among astronomers and others, after it has become apparent that the satellites are highly visible, and likely to obscure a view of the skies. Although SpaceX has assured astronomers and others that as its Starlink satellites are deployed they will be less visible, at the moment, the highly visible trail of those Starlink satellites are often brighter than the stars. The first 60 of SpaceX's Starlink satellites are only a drop in the bucket to what SpaceX plans to deploy into space--SpaceX hopes to eventually deploy 11,000 of the satellites into space.
