SwoopThat Expands Textbook Shopping Service

La Jolla-based SwoopThat, an online comparison search site for textbooks, said today that it has expanded its course search technology on the site, making it easier for students to save on textbooks. The firm, which is founded by recent college graduate Jonathan Simkin, said it is now providing textbook information for over 2,350 universities, colleges, and private high schools. The site allows students to find their college courses, and automatically searches through online retailers for the best prices on textbooks for those courses. Unlike other sites, the service does not require a textbook-by-textbook search for the best prices; instead, the site pulls up comparison on all of the texts used in a class. Simkin graduated from Harvey Mudd College last year.
