Viasat Acknowledges Satellite Issue

Carlsbad-based Viasat acknowledged late Thursday that its latest satellite, the Inmarsat-6 F2 (I6 F2) satellite, has suffered a "power subsystem anomaly". The company said it is working with Airbus to determine the root cause of he anomaly and "assess whether the satellite will be able to perform its mission." Viasat said Airbus has told the company that the anomaly is "an unprecedented event", and that none of its other geostationary telecommunications satellites have ever seen a similar failure.
