Viasat Wins $90M Contract From USAF

Carlsbad-based satellite communications provider Viasat says it has scored a new contract from the United States Air Force, worth $90M, to provide handheld link radios for special warfare operators. According to Viasat, the contract is an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract. The company's BATS-D device are used to connect to both satellite and wireless networking systems, and are known by the military as the AN/PRC-161. Viasat said the contract also covers operator training and maintenance.
