Virgin Orbit Signs Deal To Launch Joint US/UK Defense Payload

Long Beach-based space launch provider Virgin Orbit announced this morning that it has signed a deal to launch a joint U.K. and U.S. defense mission. According to the company, the joint mission between the United Kingdom's Ministry of Defence (MOD) and the United States' National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) will take place out of Newquay Airport in Cornwall, England later this year. The company is hoping to make it the first rocket launch from British soil. Financial details of the launch deal were not announced.
