Irvine-based HDTV maker VIZIO is claiming this week that the firm is growing twice as fast as the rest of the industry, and has been seeing 31 percent quarter-over-quarter sales growth. The firm said that is almost double the industry average of 16 percent growth in the U.S. LCD TV market. VIZIO claimed it outperformed the industry due to its advanced technology product, particularly larger (40 inch plus) televisions and its Internet connected devices. The firm, citing El Segundo-based iSuppli's latest Q2 2010 numbers, says it now is the number two brand of HDTV maker, with 18.9 percent unit share of the marketing Q2, or 1,394,000 units. That compares with a 19.7 percent share for number one brand Samsung (1,448,000 units), and ahead of number three brand Sony, which had 806,000 units for a 10.9 percent share of the market. VIZIO is privately held.
