Carlsbad-based Yulex, a material science firm that is working on commercializing guayule, a rubber alternative that is safe for people with latex allergies, said this week that it has signed a research agreement with the USDA. The firm said that its scientists and the USDA will work on increasing guayule's rubber latex yield. Yulex is venture-backed by Argonaut Private Equity.
