$1.1 Billion Caltech Patent Win Vacated, New Trial Ordered

A historic, $1.1 billion patent infringement award that Caltech had won against Apple and Broadcom was vacated by a judge on Friday, and a new trial ordered. The $1.1 billion award was vacated by a judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C., who said the award was "not supported by evidence". The patent battle between Caltech and Apple and Broadcom has been raging since 2016, when Caltech sued the two over its data transmission patents.
