AlpineReplay Takes Bragging Mobile For Skiers, Snowboarders

If you're a skier or snowboarder, it's often not just important to hit the slopes--it's often just as important to brag about all those vertical feet you've skied, the ski runs you've gone on, or the lifts you've ridden. That's what Huntington Beach-based AlpineReplay is counting on with its mobile apps which let you capture and share your ski slope experience with friends and others. According to AlpineReplay, winter sports enthusiasts are using its iPhone and Android apps to log more than 1 billion vertical feet of runs at more than 1,000 ski resorts worldwide, tallying up stats on speed, vertical, calories, distance, jump airtime and other performance, and sharing that with others.

The company's apps track everything from maximum speed; best sustained speed; how many calories you burnt on the slopes; how many vertical feet you've run; air time; and number of jumps, and lets anyone access those stats on the firm's own social network.

AlpineReplaywas founded by David Lokshin and Dr. Anatole Lokshin, former CTO of Magellan Navigation and a former scientist at NASA. The firm said the goal of the app is to not only track your own stats on the slopes, but also compare that with others, understand what other people are around you, to see what your friends are doing, and how that compares with other people around the world.
