San Diego-based Applied Micro Circuits Corp. (www.amcc.com) is acquiring 3ware, a developer of storage solutions based on Serial ATA (SATA). 3ware's products are used for storage markets such as network-attached storage (NAS), disk-to-disk backup, and high-performance computing. The deal is in cash, and also includes assumption of stock options.
