Calacanis Takes A Bite Of Ramen's Crowdfunding Site




No, Jason Calacanis, the Santa Monica angel investor, and CEO and founder of Mahalo, isn't bootstrapping a new company and reverting to the hungry's entrepreneur diet. Instead, he's one of the key angel investors in a new, crowdfunding site called Ramen, which launched this week at Calacanis' Launch Conference, saying that it has raised a seed funding from Calacanis, Naval Ravikant (AngelList), and Matt Cutler, to bring its online crowdfunding service for software projects to market. The size of the investment round was not announced. Ramen--which is based in Boulder, Colorado--offers up an online crowdfunding site ala Kickstarter, with additional collaboration and software tools aimed at helping software teams to hone and deliver their products.
