Santa Monica-based EdgeCast Networks, the content deliver network (CDN) provider, said today that it is targeting the performance of web applications with a new delivery service. The firm said its has announced a beta of a new, Application Delivery Network, which will help speed up availability of web applications. The firm claimed its service can help web apps run 200 to 400 percent faster. EdgeCast said it has invested in new infrastructure, including use of solid state disk drives, very large memory, and network throughput for the new service. The company said it is testing the service now with its customers, with general availability in the first quarter of 2011.
