San Diego-based Edico Genome, a developer of semiconductor specifically aimed at genome mapping, has raised $10M in a Series A funding, the company announced this morning. According to the company, the funding was led by Qualcomm Ventures, and also included Axon Ventures and angel investor Greg Lucier (Life Technologies). Edico Genome develops an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) specifically aimed at sequencing and bioinformatics applications. The company said its ASIC reduces the time spent to analyze a whole home genome from 24 hours down to 18 minutes.
