FarmSense Wins $750K In Competition

Riverside-based agricultural technology startup FarmSense said it has won $750,000 in an investment, as part of a comptition in Nashville, TN. The company said it was one of two winners in the 2023 Radicle Inclusion Challenge Presented by Nutrien, which is part of an initiative to drive diversity and inclusion within the commercial agriculture sector by Nutrien. Dr. Leslie Hickle, is co-founder and CEO of FarmSense. The company is developing tools which use computational entomology, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and real-time analytics to improve insect monitoring and crop management efforts. The company says it has received over $2M in Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) funds, plus grants and awards from Microsoft, Google, US Department of Defense, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, National Science Foundation, US Department of Agriculture, National Institutes of Health, and others.
